下雨天的雨水都到哪裡去了呢？院子的雨水會滲入土壤，屋頂上的雨水會沿著雨棚，流入四周的排水溝，再匯集到地下的「雨水幹支線」排放到小河。

負責監測河川、氣象和水量變化的抽水站，會把小河暴漲的水匯集到大河。

當大河水量暴增，則會疏導到地底下一個個的立坑，再經由下水道，進入如地下宮殿般的調壓水槽來調節，最後再由抽水機抽往更大的河川排放到大海，這樣就不怕城鎮淹水了。
